Bel Air

Another image from my “Old Town” archives. A 1957 Chevy Bel Air this time, taken at the beginning of my “Auto Art” craze in 2004.

Growing up, I remember my Grandfather mentioning “’57 Chevys” on numerous occasions, I think he owned one “back in the day”, before this car was a “legend”. I think it’s safe to say that it’s one of his favorite cars of all time. I’ll have to ask him if that’s a true statement.

I remember a time a couple years back, probably seven years or more, before I began photographing these cars. Me and my Grandfather were checking out all these classics one Saturday night at Old Town. Pap knew a lot about these automobiles and was sharing all sorts of tidbits about them with me. It’s amazing how he could tell what year many of them were built in.

I love the tail fins. Just thought I’d “pop” the red tail light on this one.

I mentioned yesterday that I am a Ford guy, and definitely a Mustang enthusiast as you may have noticed on my blog. Still my dream car is a 1959 Chevy Impala Covertible. I drool everytime I see one. But for now I still settle for my 93 Mustang Convetible.

57' Bel Air is in my opinion a great example of the great cars of the past. I believe the cars of today won't stand the test of time.

As for AI, I was jumping up and down along with my daughters because Jordin made it, but our jaws dropped when we heard that Melinda got cut. It was hard to take, the best and most consistent got voted off by America. That was just wrong, but hey it's a democracy.

I really like how you photograph these photos of cars. This one looks great in black and white. I think my parents owned one of these too back in the day. My dad is standing beside a car and standing there likes he's so proud of it. Maybe they just bought it then. Wouldn't it be nice to own one of these now? Who would have ever thought that most everything would be a collectible now.

Your auto photography is unmatched. You have a great eye for the details. Maybe you could sell your photos to a publisher for a book on classic cars!

My friend Chad is a great photographer. Close-ups, cars, objects, flowers, insects and people. How do you do it?

You should talk to Ford and sell your art for their buildings, promotions and information books.

Never seen a bad pic from you!
CONGRATULATIONS!

Sweet. I love the contrasty look of your photo, but also the glossy shine on the car itself. Beautiful car.

I agree with Salty. Great selective color. It really makes the picture pop. I love the nostalgic shots.

I guess you know that this is LITERALLY a high point. Fins drooped in 58, and then receded in the following years. The 58 Ford's fins sort of pooped off to the sides.. and since 58 was a recession year for the car industry, designers suddenly scurried about to come up with something else, fearing that the fin craze was over. In fact, it was.

Thanks for sharing
Ted

I still have to post my car pictures too, but with the way this changed I can't upload straight from picasa and that makes it a pain.. Another reason I slowed down.
